10 Days of Mental Health: building resilience together

28 February 2024

The 10 Days of Mental Health is a collaborative initiative by various Flemish organisations, aiming to spark conversations about mental wellbeing and vulnerability. Over 10 days, we'll shine a light on the importance of mental health and resilience.

Why is this important?

We often only discuss mental health when facing difficulties. However, it's crucial to care for our mental wellbeing during good times and bad. This year's theme, "Strength," focuses on building resilience together. We want to emphasise the importance of being resilient, as it allows you to feel good about yourself even when faced with challenges. By discovering and valuing your strengths and maintaining a positive outlook, you can feel empowered and happier.

What is resilience?

Resilience is the ability to bounce back from setbacks and emerge stronger. The more resilient you are, the better you can cope with and adapt to difficult situations. This can involve trying new approaches or using helpful tools.

To increase your resilience, find what works best for you and learn to use it effectively. Knowing which tools and strategies to use at different times is key to enable you to approach negative situations in a positive way.

What can your organisation do?

From October 1st to 10th, organizations can participate by highlighting the importance of strength, mental wellbeing, and resilience and by encouraging open conversations about mental health. Here are some tips to get you started.

1) Raise awareness

Show your commitment to mental wellbeing by displaying posters or stickers promoting resilience. Use inspiring quotes or visuals, or refer to the communication materials from the "Samen Veerkrachtig" (Together Resilient) initiative.

2) Share knowledge

Offer educational resources, information sessions, or webinars to your employees about resilience. Don't hesitate to seek support from external sources if you are not a mental health expert. "Samen Veerkrachtig" and BloomUp offer various resources and workshops tailored to organisations and their employees. Explore our inspiration hub for more ideas.

3) Get moving

Physical activity benefits your physical, emotional, and mental health. Organize a walking group or a sports session at work and help your employees experience the positive effects of exercise.

These tips are just the beginning. Taking concrete action to improve the mental wellbeing of your employees is important. BloomUp can help you achieve this through wellbeing scans, online therapy, workshops, and growth tracks.
